When did you fall in love with teaching?

Immediately after graduating! I realized I love working with people and children. I've always found it to be challenging in a deeply interesting way, to create a conducive and effective environment for learning.

What made you create The Engquill?

I wanted to create convenience for my students. ENGQuill is a platform that helps me do exactly that. Learning is always an enjoyable process and if it’s done the right manner with passion and dedication, then that’s what we’re all about.

How many students have you trained in the past 15+ years?

Wow! I have taught a lot of students!  I’ve easily done over 50,000 hours of training!

What’s your favourite part about training?

I learn from my students everyday! It also brings me great joy to see them perform well and move up the ladder of life.

Where do you think the future of IELTS and English Communication will take us?

We live at a time of globalization. People are travelling across the world everyday for education, work and better life opportunities. IELTS and English Communication skills have become essential in this process and it’s demand will only keep growing over the coming years.

What is the biggest challenge you face as an instructor?

With adults a main challenge I face is getting them to unlearn and relearn things. Whereas, with children, it’s keeping myself constantly updated because there’s always something new happening in a child’s life that they want to share and communicate with the rest.

Having trained adults and young learners, what is your perspective on the dynamics, teaching styles and experiences for both?

Frankly, I’ve observed that adults are sometimes less expressive when it comes to sharing opinions and communicating because there is an underlying fear of being judged or misunderstood. Adults prefer traditional teaching methods like memorizing out of a book or taking notes. When it comes to children, they’re very honest and carefree and come up with some brilliant, out of the box ideas that I try to apply to my sessions to help them learn better.

What is the most important element that differentiates The Engquill from other training institues?

We understand and care for our learners, so we let them help us direct the teaching methods to what suits them best. We also offer remedial classes for students that need a little extra help. When it comes to IELTS, our students have made us extremely proud by achieving their desired band scores

Tell us one thing a student has said to you or done for you that brought the biggest smile to your face?

I remember a student once telling me, “It means a lot that you listen to us.”

What’s your message to all the learners out there?

Don't be scared to make errors, but make new ones each time! Believe in yourself, work hard and you can definitely do it!
